What Is It
A global initiative to create a network of Shabbat Shalom Text Threads. Saying Shabbat Shalom is the one significant act every Jewish person can embrace, regardless of background, beliefs, or level of observance. Two impassioned words. One simple act. A powerful way to solve a big problem.
What’s The Problem
Countless Jews throughout the diaspora are drifting away, too often no longer passing down their Jewish identity. Each one is a thread in an ancient story that risks being broken. We are already small in number. We simply cannot afford to lose generations through disengagement.
What Can I Do
Start a weekly Shabbat Shalom Text Thread with your Jewish family, friends, colleagues, neighbors. Include those already engaged in Jewish life, and those less connected or on the margins. You are an influencer. You can create the pathways that bring others back into the fold.
Will This Really Help
Never underestimate the power of a simple message. Every greeting is a reminder that we see one another—that we are part of one Jewish people. It will become a consequential movement when each of your thread members starts a Shabbat Shalom Text Thread of their own, adding another link in a formidable chain of connection.
Building A Network
Send this page to your thread members. Encourage them to do as you have. When one thread becomes many, when simple greetings are multiplied across thousands—or even millions—of Jews each week, they have the power to sustain and invigorate the Jewish diaspora in a way few actions can.
Start your Shabbat Shalom Text Thread FRIDAY!
Register your thread NOW!
It’s the only way we can measure our strength and show you—and the world—our impact!
The Shabbat Shalom Project is a public service of Havurah Yehudim, a small Havurah in Southern California.
In early 2026, we started a Shabbat Shalom Text Thread, the inspiration for The Shabbat Shalom Project.
