People who do not observe Shabbat think it a day of restriction. On the contrary, it is a day of emancipation. The opportunity presents itself each week to get off the merry-go-round, hop off the hamster wheel, and bathe in the simplicity of peace and tranquility. It is said "more than Israel has kept Shabbat, Shabbat has kept Israel." There need not be requirement other than to somehow, someway, little or large, mark the day different from the others. Simply put, rather than “thank god it’s friday” as license to indulge, actively do something, anything, big or small, to Thank God, It’s Friday! And still go have a nice weekend…
